Character actor Jay Gerber, who guest starred on shows from Love, American Style to Gilmore Girls, died on October 2 2015 at the age of 86.
Jay Gerber was born on April 18 1929 in the Bronx, New York. He served in the Korean War. He made his television debut in 1956 in an episode of Producer's Showcase. He would not appear on television again until 1973 when he guest starred in an episode of Love, American Style. He made his film debut in 1975 in Dog Day Afternoon. In the Seventies he guest starred on such shows as Good Heavens, The Blue Knight, All in the Family, The Rockford Files, Eight is Enough, Chico and the Man, One Day at a Time, and Barney Miller.
In the Eighties he guest starred on such shows as Too Close for Comfort, The Fall Guy, M*A*S*H, The Greatest American Hero, The Twilight Zone, Night Court, Knot's Landing, and Dallas. In the Nineties he guest starred on Doogie Howser M.D., L. A. Law, Martin, and Gilmore Girls. He appeared in the film Memoirs of an Invisible Man (1992). In the Naughts he guest starred on Alias and Any Day Now.
