Results found that that 38% indicated that they would be less likely to watch Jay Leno’s show if his time slot changes compared to 59% who reported that they would be less likely to watch Conan O’Brien’s show if his time slot changes. Viewers indicated that, given the choice, they would prefer to watch Jay Leno (50%) over David letterman (38%), but would opt to watch David Letterman (49%) over Conan O’Brien (43%).
More in depth results can be seen at:
http://www.mediacurves.com/Entertainment/J7705-NBCLineupChange/Index.cfm
Thanks,
Benbenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16113765418485424638noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7210602.post-51765311421297654522010-01-17T14:29:43.335-06:002010-01-17T14:29:43.335-06:00Kate, I don't watch late night television ofte...Kate, I don't watch late night television often, but when I do I certainly want it to be a show hosted by someone I find funny! I like Letterman and obviously I like Conan, but I just don't find Leno funny at all. I think the only reason he had the ratings he did for years on The Tonight Show is the brand name--it's "The Tonight Show." I think his primetime show's poor ratings actually reflect what the public thinks of him as a host!

At any rate, I think you are right about the corporate world not listening to the public. Never mind the networks, I've seen too many times corporations have made changes the public never asked for nor wanted (perfect example--New Coke).Terence Towles Canotehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18397088843628331615noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7210602.post-65831146942659643592010-01-16T10:08:27.214-06:002010-01-16T10:08:27.214-06:00I'm with Kate on liking Letterman & Conan ...I'm with Kate on liking Letterman & Conan but not Leno. Poor Conan got a bad deal, and NBC looks pretty ridiculous.Wendymoonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06682746267032008981noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7210602.post-15439938335293593032010-01-15T20:55:57.931-06:002010-01-15T20:55:57.931-06:00I just read on Huffington Post that they apparentl...I just read on Huffington Post that they apparently reached a deal where Conan will leave NBC with a big pay-off package & they'll keep Leno... I don't watch much late night tv (I barely watch any non-TCM tv, you know lol) but I have seen Conan & Letterman, and like them both. Leno, not so much. I just don't think he's funny... that might be the problem why his show had such bad ratings?

Anyway, I agree it seems like networks never seem to listen to what the public wants. Companies in general never do... constantly favorite grocery products and foods are discontinued despite the fact that they were really popular. It's like getting rid of Aunt Jemimia pancake syrup and trying to tell all the people who liked it to have rainbow sprinkles on their pancakes instead (I'm awful at analogies..) it just never works.

Ok, done with the really strange comment. lolKatehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02026961018017690353noreply@blogger.com
