I had forgotten Captain Bob, so thanks for jarring that memory. His son was in school with me at West Junior in Columbia. Showtime was on from 4:30- 5:45pm Monday-Friday. I am not sure who was the host but Showtime had 2_Popeye cartoons(King Features Syndicate), A Three Stooges comedy film, more cartoons with Krazy Kat, and Snuffy Smith. It also had the Adventures of Robin Hood toward the end of each show. Showtime was later reduced to 30 minutes. Some years it came on from 4:30- 5:00. It had some cartoons with Hanna-Barbera(Huckleberry Hound, Yogi Bear, etc.) It also had at least one Popeye cartoon on each day. There was also a program on channel 13 called Noonday Varieties(12_noon- 12:20). It had 3 Popeye cartoons back to back(also King Features Syndicate) Monday - Friday R PhillipsAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03154371694655058037noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7210602.post-67972002459245596962016-01-17T19:07:48.920-06:002016-01-17T19:07:48.920-06:00Now that you mention, I think I vaguely remember J...Now that you mention, I think I vaguely remember Jane. I do seem to remember Dusty, but I don't remember the contest to name him. I guess I would have been about 7 to 8 about that time. He was replaced by a fellow named Ray Rouse who later got a co-host named Sparkle The Clown. I got to meet them at a store opening when I was five and it was the first time I had ever seen someone from TV in person. I was thrilled. Eventually Ray left and Sparkle became the host. He was later replaced by a fellow named Barker Bob. This would have been around 1965 or 66. Sparkle the Clown was kind of a dour and taciturn personality, in contrast to his clown getup.Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06239885018863595428noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7210602.post-8691862471936064062010-11-22T20:47:03.974-06:002010-11-22T20:47:03.974-06:00Nice post. Anyway, thanks for the post, I was beginning to wonder if I was the only person who remembered that show!Scott Quickhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16327925832271633468noreply@blogger.com
